Municipal Stadium in Katowice – the turf foundation has started
The construction of the new sports complex in Katowice is slowly coming to an end, and the first roll of grass was officially rolled out on the stadium pitch. The event was attended by representatives of the city of Katowice, Katowickie Inwestycje S.A and the NDI Group.
The new municipal stadium is being built at Bocheńskiego and Upadowa streets in Katowice. The NDI Group is the general contractor for the investment. The task includes the construction of a stadium with stands accommodating 15,000 fans, a sports and entertainment hall with nearly 3,000 spectators, a main square, two full-size training pitches, and a car park with approximately 500 parking spaces (including spaces for vehicles for the disabled and 11 coaches). NDI is also responsible for landscaping the area around the stadium and building roads, pavements or cycle routes.
The turf has been rolled out at the stadium
Work is already in the final stages, with a planned completion date of 31 October. Intensive finishing work is currently underway, but in the coming days work will focus on laying the grass on the main pitch.
– We have made no secret of the fact that the construction of the stadium was a demanding project. Our team faced many challenges, from coordinating work on site to ensuring the highest quality of materials and services. We are all the more pleased that we were able to face these challenges and today, looking at the results of our work, we feel satisfaction. The stadium in Katowice will undoubtedly become one of the most important landmarks on the sports map of the region, and we are proud to have played a key role in its construction,‘ said Wojciech Pałczyński, Director of the South Branch of the NDI Group.
The carefully prepared turf has already appeared on the training pitches. It meets all the standards for pitches in Europe and complies with all standards, which means that football can be played at the highest level.
