Reinforced concrete structure for the Renaissance by Marriott hotel in Gdańsk completed
The redevelopment of the historic “Groddeck” granaries into a five-star Renaissance by Marriott Gdańsk, carried out by PI Hotel Construction and managed by PI Apartamenty&Hotele, is progressing according to schedule. The structural works for the entire complex, including the historic buildings, have now been completed, and the focus has shifted to façade works and roofing. The general contractor is the NDI Group.
The investment, located in the centre of Gdańsk, includes the revitalization of the 17th-century granaries “Duży Groddeck” and “Mały Groddeck” (forming part “B” of the complex), as well as the construction of two new wings: section “A” facing Krowi Most and section “C” facing Podwale. All buildings have been integrated into a single, functional hotel complex.
The reinforced concrete structure has been completed across all parts of the development. In buildings “A” and “C”, partition walls have been fully constructed, and window and door joinery has been installed. In the historic section, internal works are ongoing, with most partition walls completed and joinery installation underway.
Roofing works are also at an advanced stage. In building “C”, the roof structure along with insulation and finishing layers has been completed; in section “A”, works are nearing completion, while carpentry and roofing installation continue over the historic granaries. At the same time, façade works are being carried out in sections “A” and “C”, including both ventilated façades and clinker brick masonry. In building “B”, specialized conservation works on the historic façades are nearly complete.
– Site development elements are also underway, including the reinforced concrete structure of the entrance to building ‘B’ from Chmielna Street. The dismantling of the steel support structure has been completed, allowing us to move on to subsequent stages of construction – said Łukasz Trzeciak, Site Manager at NDI.
The project is being carried out in the very centre of Gdańsk, in an area under heritage conservation protection. The historic granaries are increasingly becoming an integral part of the modern Renaissance by Marriott hotel complex.
