Construction of the DK78 Pradła bypass. Key stages of bridge works have been completed

Work has gained momentum on the construction of the DK78 Pradła bypass in the Śląskie Voivodeship. The installation of pre-stressed concrete beams on one of the bridge structures and the next stage of construction of the animal crossing have been completed. At the same time, earthworks, discipline works and road works are being carried out. The Katowice branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways is the investor, and NDI Group is responsible for the implementation of the works.

The investment project carried out in Pradła includes the construction of a bypass along the DK78 national road. The new route, over two kilometres long, will run along the northern side of the town, which will relieve the centre of through traffic. The road will be designed to carry a load of 11.5 tonnes per axle, and access roads and sections providing services to adjacent areas will also be constructed along it.

This summer, intensive earthworks, soil stabilization and the laying of the first structural layers of the future road began on the construction site.

Significant progress is also visible in the construction of engineering structures, including the construction of a bridge, where the installation of pre-stressed concrete beams that form the main load-bearing structure has been completed. The work was carried out on the active voivodeship road DW794 and required strict logistical coordination and maintaining the highest safety standards. The entire operation went according to schedule and was an important stage in the implementation of the investment project.

Another stage of construction of a facility serving as an upper crossing for animals over DK78 has also been completed. – The assembly of the steel shell structure made of corrugated sheets was carried out efficiently and in accordance with the design assumptions. The facility will allow for the safe migration of animals and is an example of environmental protection within road investment projects, says Magdalena Pietrzak, Bridge Works Manager at NDI Group.

The investment project implementation time is 18 months from the date of signing the contract, excluding winter periods. This is the second investment project for which NDI Group is the General Contractor that has been carried out in the Śląskie Voivodeship as part of the government’s 100 Bypasses Construction Program.
