The Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry is rising in the heart of the campus
At the University of Silesia, intensive work is underway on the construction of the Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry. The work is being carried out in the city centre, in the vicinity of the existing campus facilities. The construction is in the phase of earthworks and the construction of a 20-metre-high excavation enclosure. The new Chemistry Centre will allow for a better alignment of study programmes with the needs of the labour market.
Demolition work has already been completed, and a 20-metre-high excavation enclosure in the form of an anti-filtration screen is currently being constructed. At the same time, earthworks and the reconstruction of several underground networks are underway.
In the coming months, it is planned to continue the screen, drain the excavation, excavate to the level of the piling platform, reinforce the ground with concrete piles and prepare the excavation for the foundations. The investment will be extremely technologically advanced, which will significantly improve the quality of education.
It will be a modern space conducive to innovation and the development of science. The facility will include spaces of various types – from large lecture halls and modern laboratories, through seminar and teaching areas, to a sports complex with four gyms. The whole will be complemented by a technology hall and advanced administrative and technical facilities. There will be an underground car park under the building.
The General Contractor for the construction works is the NDI Group, and the Investor is the University of Silesia in Katowice. The value of the investment is over PLN 239 million net.
