The Pontifical University Library
The NDI Group was the general contractor for the construction of the new teaching building with an underground car park.
The project involved the construction of a new five-storey building comprising four above-ground storeys and one underground storey, which houses, among other facilities, lecture halls and classrooms. The new building was connected to the existing library.
The construction was divided into two phases.
The first phase included mainly earthworks, reinforced concrete and structural works, roofing, the installation of external façades and the completion of the building envelope.
The second phase included finishing works, electrical, ICT and sanitary installations, landscaping around the building and the connection to the existing library building.
The excavation was secured using a vibration-free method.
The building has a footprint of over 2,800 sq m, a volume of 61,000 m³ and a usable floor area of 10,538.38 sq m.
Each phase of the project was completed within 12 months.
