The reconstructed section of the road is over 10 kilometres long, stretching from Królewo Malborskie to the border between the Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships.

The main aim of the expansion of National Road No. 22 was to improve safety on DK22 and to upgrade the road to the GP technical class required for national roads, contributing to shorter travel times and improved driving conditions.

The project included widening the carriageway, strengthening the pavement structure, and correcting horizontal curves and cross slopes. Intersections with cross roads, culverts, access roads and bus bays were also reconstructed. New sidewalks and bicycle paths were built.
